Larry Ellsworth Keene, age 64, departed this life on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Chestertown, MD. He was born on July 27, 1954 to the late Preston Ellwood and Lucy Catherine Keene in Royal Oak, MD. Larry was a devoted father, grandfather and a friend to many. His interests included keeping his vehicles clean and watching sports. Larry especially enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Capitals, Golden State Warriors and Washington Redskins. Larry loved and enjoyed spending time with his family especially his daughters and grandson Isaiah. Larry found enjoyment in attending church, spreading the word of God and listening to Gospel music. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Bellevue, MD where he served as a lay speaker.
In 1972, Larry graduated from St. Michaels High School. After graduation, Larry joined the work force as a Lumber and Contractor Salesman working for Moore’s Lumber, Lowes and 84 Lumber where he eventually retired. Larry will be remembered for going above and beyond for all of his clients, even delivering lumber in his personal trucks to ensure that his contractors received their materials on time.
Larry is survived by his sister Barbara Keene (Easton, MD), two daughters Shane’ Keene (Preston, MD) and LaNae’ Shorts and husband Donnie (Nottingham, MD) and one grandson Isaiah Shorts (Nottingham, MD) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers Lindsay Keene and Preston Keene, Jr. and one sister Yvonne Miles.
