On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, our Heavenly father called his beautiful daughter home, Cheryl Denise Farrare. She was 61 years old when she entered through the gates of Heaven. Cheryl was born May 24, 1958 to Benjamin Niskey and the late Iva Lee Gattis Farrare. Cheryl was also the daughter of the late Gordon Farrare.
Cheryl was the eldest child of her parents. She was raised in Mardela and graduated from Mardela High School with the Class of 1976. Cheryl worked in Ocean City as a housekeeper for 12 years. She was a lively and enjoyable employee who everybody loved. During her early years, Cheryl attended Mt Pleasant AUMP Church on Wallertown Road.
Cheryl was often called “Shorty”, “Rare”, and “Mom Dukes.” She loved cooking for the holidays and baking treats for the neighborhood kids. She also loved doing crossword puzzles, knitting, watching her stories, spending time with her family, and enjoying life to the fullest. Cheryl was a good mother, with a loving heart, a good sense of humor, and a beautiful spirit.

Love, and kind heart will continue through her son, Preston (Stacy) Lankford of Salisbury; a daughter, Monica Lankford of Mardela Springs; 4 grandchildren: Janaya Lankford of Salisbury, Preston Lankford III of Salisbury, Makayla Bounds and Mariah Morris both of Mardela; 3 brothers: Benjamin Farrare of Mardela, Troy Niskey of Baltimore, and Timothy Niskey of Salisbury; 2 nephews: Gregory Conaway Jr of Baltimore, and Joseph Norman of Mardela; a great niece, Cali Rae Conaway of Baltimore; 3 aunts: Regina Gates of Reids Grove, Joyce Chambers of Baltimore, Vanessa Gattis of Mardela; 3 uncles: Raymond (Geveva) Gattis of Salisbury, Orlando Spry of Severn, MD, and Roy (Theresa) Niskey of Salisbury; a special friend who was more like a sister, Iris Lankford of Vienna and Roxanne Farrare of Vienna, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Cheryl will be welcomed into her heavenly eternal home be her son, Duante Lankford, her mother, Iva Farrare; her stepfather, Gordon “Wimpy” Farrare, paternal step-grandfather, Vernon Farrare, her sister, Sherita Farrare Conaway, brother-in-law, Gregory Conaway, Sr, maternal grandmother, Ada Gattis, maternal grandfather, Raymond Gattis Sr, and 2 uncles: Ralph and Robert “Bobbie” Gattis.
