Helen Louise Dobson-Dockins, 81, of Cambridge, departed this life into eternal rest on Friday, December 25, 2020 in Cambridge, Maryland.
Helen was born on April 6, 1939 near Hurlock, Maryland to the late John W. Dobson and Marie Farrare-Dobson. She was raised on Rail Road Hill with sisters, Gen, Joyce, Jackie, and first cousin Gloria, who was raised as a sister. As children, they enjoyed caring for children, cooking, canning, and gardening. At a young age, Helen began attending church and participated in church activities. She attended the public schools of Dorchester County and graduated with the Class of 1957 at Maces Lane High School in Cambridge, Maryland. She worked various jobs over the years that followed and was employed at several places including Dockins Service Station, Caroline Poultry, Hurlock Sportswear, the Colonial Store, Rob Roy, Western Publishing, and Black and Decker.
Helen was a woman of faith and a member of the Faith Community United Methodist Church family in East New Market. She was a kind and loving person who was willing to help anyone in need. Her interests included listening to music, shopping, cooking, sewing, crafts and spending time with her family. She loved the Lord and loved her family unconditionally. The wisdom and knowledge she shared was built upon her unwavering trust and faith in God, which she imparted in her family. Helen was proud to be a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to those whom she loved and treasured.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five sisters, Genevra Sampson, Joyce Matthews, Gloria Harris, Barbara Dobson (died in infancy) and Jacqueline Dobson.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son: Keith Dockins (Donzella); one granddaughter: Nykeda Saunders and one great-grandson: Breon Saunders all of Salisbury, Maryland and husband Calvin Dockins of Cambridge, Maryland. Brothers-in-law: Marcellus Dockins Jr. (Jerlean); Anthony Walls, Gregory Walls all of Cambridge, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends. Helen Dockins will truly be missed by her family, friends and loved ones throughout the entire community. She was highly thought of and respected. With her quiet, gentle demeanor she brought happiness to all who knew and loved her.
