Nathaniel Ennels

September 21, 1951 ~ January 7, 2021 (age 69)

Obituary

Nathaniel “Teddy” Ennels, 69, answered the call from labor to reward on January 7, 2021, with his wife by his side in Salisbury, MD. He was born to the late John Seymore, Sr. and late Jennie Ennels Chester on September 21, 1951.

Teddy attended Maces Lane High School in Cambridge, MD and he was an alumnus of the final class. He retired from the Maryland Department of Transportation District 1 after 38 years as a Transportation Engineer. He also served his community for several years as a member of Journey of Faith Church in Waldorf, MD as a Trustee, Co-Chair of the Finance Department, and member of the Men’s Choir. Teddy was an active member of the NAACP chapter in Cambridge, and a Harriet Tubman Associate.

Teddy loved the sheer art of shopping and finding the perfect clothing and accessories for any occasion. He traveled with his family, creating memories with his wife. Teddy enjoyed having people over and regaling them with stories and challenging the children in his life to races – and winning them.

Teddy is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Lola Ennels of Salisbury; his children: Nathaniel Ennels II of Salisbury and Lola Ennels Moore of Fruitland; 2 grandsons: Bryce Castro of Salisbury, Josiah (Beans) Moore of Fruitland; 2 sisters: Geraldine Cornish and Beverly Ennels both of Cambridge; 2 brothers: Alfred Ennels of Texas and Thomas Ennels (Sylvia) of Delaware; 2 nieces he helped raise: Monique Copes of Salisbury, and Lakiesha “Keke” of Parsonsburg; sisters-in-law: Portia Johnson Ennels of Cambridge, Teresa Reid of Salisbury, MD, Vivian Harris of Parsonsburg, and Calisa Harris of Salisbury; brothers-in-law: Henry Harris (Janie) of Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Teddy is preceded in death by both parents, four brothers Ernest, James, Elenzor, and John Ennels; one sister Ailene Dickerson; father- and mother-in-law Henry “Alabama” and Lola Harris; sisters-in-law Betty Palmer and Annie Harris; and one brother-in-law William “Nuke” Hayward.
